An orthotics assessment is a podiatry consultation focused on how your feet load, move, and support your body during everyday activity. Orthotics are shoe inserts designed to improve foot alignment, reduce strain on joints and soft tissues, and support more efficient movement.
At Norwest Podiatry Clinic, orthotics are never one-size-fits-all. We assess your foot structure, gait, posture, and symptoms before deciding whether orthotics are appropriate, and if so, how they should be designed specifically for you.

No. At Norwest Podiatry, our orthotics are designed specifically for your feet and movement patterns, whereas over-the-counter insoles are generic.
No. When prescribed appropriately, orthotics support your feet while allowing normal muscle function.
Most orthotics last 1–2 years, depending on usage, footwear, and activity level.
They fit most supportive shoes. We’ll advise which footwear works best.
Not always. Some people use them short-term during injury recovery; others benefit long-term.
In some injury-related cases, orthotics may be partially covered by ACC. We’ll advise you during your assessment.
